Flexible working, which is a way of working in today's business world, has recently been more successful than the fixed business model. Therefore, talking about the flexible working model can be useful for people with a negative point of view.

The benefits of flexible working are scientifically proven

Redbooth, which has a wide platform on business studies in the US state , has published new research with the participation of people.[1] The purpose of this study was to provide information about the month, day and time when employees can be most productive. The most productive day is Monday, and the most productive working hours are determined as 11, the survey results showed. As a result of this research, flexible working hours seem to meet the needs of employees.

Why do employees and employers prefer the flexible model?

Remote working allows the employee to work where he feels best,in a comfort zone or while on vacation. Their productivity also increases because this motivates them. The employer can eliminate the cost of the office.

● Problems such as frequent taking leave, absenteeism from work and changing jobs in a short time are reduced.

● The extension of the daily working time prevents overtime. The obligation to do high-cost overtime during periods of high demand is eliminated by making the working hours appropriate to the demand.

● It provides a wide decision area and gives the ability to use time well. The employer's decision on their own working time improves their ability to bear personal responsibility and self-confidence

Flexible Working Models

1. Working Part-Time Model

Working at the workplace for shorter than normal working hours is called part-time work. Specifically, the main feature of part-time work is that it is shorter than the normal working time, it is done regularly and it is optional. What’s more, it has 3 important elements: duration, continuity, and free management.

2. Hybrid Working Model

It is a model that goes to the workplace on certain days of the week, and on other days work is carried out from home. In fact, the hybrid working model has many things in common with the working-from-home model. This model gives employees the opportunity to devote more time to themselves, their families or their private lives. This happens by completing the necessary tasks during the day.

3. Job sharing Model

Job sharing is the sharing of a full-time job and the benefits it provides by more than one employee. In this model, the task of providing the service is shared and undertaken by multiple employees.

4. Flexible Work Hours Model

In this model, there is a basic period of time that requires all employees to be at work. This basic time is expressed as ”principal, fixed or core time". The employee comes to work whenever they want outside of this core period and determines their own rest and denominator. Working hours that fall outside the core time are called flexible time.

5. Remote Working Model

The main advantage of the remote working model in terms of workplace and employee; there is the possibility of flexible production. Increasing job demands when needed can be met externally with remote working. Remote working models cause the reduction of personal costs.

Flexible working model and its benefits

The fact that flexible working models are not fully known by companies and their employees causes them to stay away from this new working system. It is seen that if it provides independence in terms of the space and time, employees also contribute more to the company. Therefore, employees’ happiness in the working environment also brings along their loyalty to the company.
