The Hidden Damage: How AI-Generated Blog Content Can Erode Your Brand’s Credibility Over Time

Isn’t having a tool that writes for you in seconds a great way to get rid of the repetitive tasks of this world? The advent of AI has made this possible. Now, you can write articles for your blog as quickly as you like. It sounds like a fantastic idea indeed, as you receive more views and even better rankings on Google. However, AI can eventually lead to problems that damage the brand and drive readers away.

Here’s Why:

1.    The Voice of Your Brand's Credibility Is Lost

Every brand speaks in a unique way. Some are funny, some are serious, and some give good advice. However, all of your posts begin to sound the same when you use AI to write everything. They may seem uninteresting or as though they were sent by a robot rather than a real person.

Indeed, when you change your voice, people notice. They may stop reading if your content begins to seem cold or fake, even if they enjoyed how genuine and honest you sounded before.

2.    People May Lose Faith in You

Most of the time, your readers can tell whether a post on your blog has been written by a human or an AI. The problem is that technology often lacks the personal opinions and real-life experiences needed to create a tone in writing that resonates with people. Readers might then conclude the brand no longer values them.

Well-known tech site CNET is a good example. The publisher wrote some stories about money using AI, without the readers being told. In the end, people were kind of furious and distrusted the website when they caught wind of this information.

3.    Your Rankings May Drop Due to Google

Using AI to generate more blog posts quickly might sound like a great idea, but it can end up hurting your site’s SEO. If your blog is filled with low-quality AI content, Google might determine that your blog isn’t useful or helpful. As a result, your site could fall in search results, meaning fewer people would be able to find it. In some cases, Google might even penalize you for poor SEO, which could mean that your pages would no longer show up in search results or would move down the list.

It might be very difficult to reverse this, and your traffic might plummet at the end.

4.    Reader Engagement May Decrease

Will people stick around and read your copy now that AI helped you get more eyeballs on it? Many blocks of text written by AI just don’t resonate with people. They don’t contain any fresh thinking or stories. Instead, readers might only glance at the beginning of your post before bouncing.

When this happens, your blog looks less engaging, and if nobody gets any value from your copy, they won’t be back for more.

5.    Experts Advise Against It

Countless marketing professionals have already warned us about the dangers of using AI too much. As I was researching, I found some intriguing responses to this question in WebFX’s article about the pros and cons of using AI content. Indeed, in the blog post published on January 31, 2025, the Content Marketing Consultant Macy Storm advises against AI-generated copy, recommending human-written content for its authenticity, creativity, and ability to truly connect with the target audience.

It’s acceptable to use AI as a helper, such as to check spelling or generate ideas. However, the primary content of your blog should still be written by actual people who are knowledgeable about the subject and are interested in it.

Final Remarks

Using AI can help save time, but using it to do all your blog writing can really hurt your brand over time. Your voice changes, people lose interest, Google picks up on it, and you lose people’s trust. If you want your brand to last, it’s often better to stay human, even if it means you publish less often.
